It’s Not Only Gaza
The ongoing brutalities inspired me to bring awareness to what we do every day, how we do it, how it impacts our lives, and how we can bring real lasting change to the world.
It’s not only Gaza
Not only Auschwitz
And all the butchers
That history’s forgotten
It’s also how we treat
Ourself
Each other
The animals
The trees
The land
The sea
The air
And the entire planet
It’s what we humans do
It’s a pattern
And it will never end
Unless
Change comes from within
From our hearts – to our hands
Because our hands
Pull the trigger
Press the button
Sign the injustice
Thrust the knife
Withhold affection
Pay the killers
Strike the woman
Abduct the innocent
Lock the doors
Silence, butcher and maim
Rape, torture and burn
And write the lies
When instead
Our hands could lovingly
Offer help
Hug with love
Water a tree
Give support
Comfort a friend
Hold another hand
Run through someone’s hair
Tickle playfully
Flirt
Caress
Offer a gift
Stroke with affection
Show someone the way
Make love
Pick up trash
Point to something beautiful
Relieve someone’s pain
Write something beautiful
Make art
Play
And so much more…
